Who is Colin?
Hi! My name is Colin Callahan, I am a non-binary queer artist, and just graduated from University of Illinois at Chicago BFA Acting program. I am a Chicago born and raised creative who has been preforming, in my kitchen with a blanket on my head as hair singing Britney Spears, since I was 4.
I am an incredibly passionate and goal driven individual. Recent theatre credits include: Not About Nightingales (directed by Eddie Torres), Trial in the Delta (Co-Directed by Anthony Mosley & Dana Anderson), and The Aliens (Directed by Richard Corley). Recent film credits include: All That Glitters (Triad Pictures), Talking S#*t (Second City Film School). In addition to BFA university training, I have been taking classes at Actors Studio Chicago and have graduated from the Conservatory Program at the Second City Training Center.
I am also a teaching artist around the city and am currently working with Chicago Children's Theatre. When I'm not acting or teaching you can probably find me hammocking at the lakeshore or long distance running through the city. If not there, then I'm probably drinking an iced matcha latte with vanilla and reading at your local coffee shop.

Teaching Artistry
I have been working with young people for the past 5 years. I have taught with ages PK-6th in after school settings and summer camps. Recently, I have found immense fulfillment in the work of teaching artistry. Over the last year I have been taking a course on being a TA taught by Lynne Pace Green at UIC. Throughout this year I have been faced with a lot of opportunities and challenges that have helped me grow & expand my tools in classroom facilitation and lesson structure .
My Mission
Walking into a space that I am teaching I make it my goal to make students feel as safe as possible when learning. I bring a very compassionate and caring energy into my teaching. I believe it should be the responsibility of the TA to craft a sanctuary of expression where students can feel comfortable enough to open up and express themselves with genuine & judgement free energy. I try to base my work on the corner stones of: authenticity, empathy, and curiosity.
My TA Work
Most recently, I just closed my residency this Winter with the Chicago Children's Theatre. I assistant taught their elementary ensemble, with grades 4 & 5, in the devising and preforming of a piece they created on the CCT stage for friends and family!
"Colin has a great balance of calm and enthusiasm for theater that really helped this group! They were a really rambunctious group so his ability to remain calm was a great asset."- Cayla Jones (TA Lead CCT)
